Daring daylight robbers caught on camera

Police are searching for four people who made away with thousands of dollars, during a carefully executed heist at jewellery store in the Brisbane Arcade on Thursday.

The two men and two women, believed to be in their mid-30s, pocketed the large sum of cash from Brisbane Vintage Watches after posing as customers.

Police suspect the two couples followed a store employee after he withdrew a lump sum of cash from a nearby bank.

One couple then posed as customers and distracted the staff member, while the other couple went behind the counter and stole the money. The couples left the store shortly after each other.

Inspector Wes Biddle said the theft was well-planned and executed.

"These people are organised and work together to pick a potential target. In this incident they have taken advantage of the willingness of staff to assist customers," Mr Biddle said.

"It's important that all business owners and employees remain aware of their surroundings and the people in the store, and have measures in place to ensure registers and valuables are secured."

Images obtained from CCTV footage showed the men had dark hair with tanned complexions, while the women had fair features. The four were described as having South African accents.

Police are asking the public for any further information relating to the identity of the thieves. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
