AFTER having a break over the long weekend, local netballers returned to competition on Saturday June 18.
The weekend saw teams from Bega District Netball play in some spirited clashes as the drive towards the finals heats up.
The improvement in the catch and play and netta leagues continues to grow as players learn about teamwork and excellent passing techniques.
This week in the juniors saw the Emus defeat a courageous Wombats outfit 20-17, while the other game was a low scoring encounter with the Bilby’s defeating the Kangaroos, 11-7.
In the seniors a strong first half by Topaz proved to be too much for the Emeralds to chase down, emerging with a 12-8 victory.
The Diamonds continued their strong form of recent weeks to defeat Sapphires 27-18.
A cliff-hanger occurred in the intermediate division when Roxy and Billabong went head to head.
Spectators were on the edge of their seats when Roxy romped home in an amazing 13 goal final quarter to overcome Billabong 39-38.
The second match couldn’t have been more different, when Quicksilver thrashed Rip Curl 52-33, exhibiting an outstanding display of shooting.
Only the one match was played in the open division, when Contax took on the Pacers.
After a tense first quarter, some outstanding teamwork by the Pacers saw them come home with an impressive 44-33 victory.
