LOCAL Pony Club group Zone 14 has been voted the best club in NSW on the weekend.
The club took out the Champion Zone Award at the State Pony Club of NSW Showjumping Championships, which were held at the Cobargo Showground.
Zone 14 had 12 local young riders at the championships, which were held over two days and comprised of four major events.
The events aimed to test the skills, speed and talents of all horse and rider combinations.
Ninety riders from all over NSW and Victoria attended the competition, which was divided into four age groups.
The overall winner from each group received this year’s State Showjumping Championships honours.
Unfortunately, no Zone 14 riders received the honour but the club came away with three runners-up: Lane Clarke, Craig Mathews and Troy Johnson.
It was a fitting ending to the weekend that the host zone collected the Championship Zone Award.
The award was calculated by adding the four highest scoring riders of each club together.
The members selected for Zone 14 were Lane Clarke (Bemboka), Craig Mathews, Troy Johnson and Hayley Jessop (all from Bega).
The Zone 14 Pony Club thanks all involved with making the State Championships a big success.
The 12 riders representing Zone 14 were L. Clarke (Bemboka), S. Turnbull (Moruya), S. Curtis, C. and S. Mathews, T. Otton, C. Beresford, T. Johnson, H. Jessop (all Bega), J. Holland, K. Wren and G. Harrington (all Cobargo).
