THE popular four ball golf format returns this weekend to the Bega Country Club, due to public demand.

Tomorrow’s men’s event will be a four ball, best ball stableford event and is the last chance for the first round of matches in the club’s four ball match-play championships to be staged.

The club’s mixed foursomes championships will be played on Sunday, while the men’s foursomes championships are set down for Sunday July 6.

An individual par competition was played on Saturday June 14, with some good scores returned.

A grade was taken out by the consistent Rob Cochrane (plus one), Laurie Billman found form to win B grade (plus two) and the C grade trophy went to John Eivers (plus four).

Nearest the pin for this week went to Peter Holdsworth (9th), Rod McDonald (12th), David Hancock (15th) and Bruce Dunlevie (18th).

Jordon Neville gets a free feed at the Friday night bistro at the club courtesy of his effort on the 17th.

Several of the Bega club’s juniors took part in the Bermagui Junior Open last weekend.

Congratulations to Leon Blacker who took out the B grade stroke competition.

Leon is reaping the benefits of his practise and regular play at the club.

The Bega Country Club has been host to golfers taking part in the annual “Ace of clubs” tournament this week.

Visitors have been very complimentary about the quality of the course and the club thanks their members who have made them feel so welcome.
