TWO drink driving charges were laid over the weekend, with both offences occurring in Tathra.

On Friday, August 22 at 10.48pm the highway patrol, while patrolling in Tathra, stopped a vehicle in Bega Street for a random breath test.

The test proved positive, so the driver was conveyed to Bega Police Station for a breath analysis, which proved positive.

The 36-year-old male was subsequently charged with a mid-range PCA offence.

On Saturday night a 50-year-old Tathra woman was charged with a mid-range PCA offence after a breath analysis at Bega Police Station.

The woman was stopped for a random breath test in Davidson Street, Tathra.

Both offenders are to appear at Bega Local Court on September 9, 2008.

Police were called to the Tathra Hotel on Saturday night after an altercation took place at the premises when a Tathra male refused to leave the hotel.

He has been banned from the premises for a month.

An attempted break and enter occurred at the Bega netball courts between 4pm on August 16 and 9.15am on August 23 causing an estimated $1000 in damage.

A storage container door, the canteen roller door and a security door were all damaged, but no entry was gained.

An infringement notice has been issued to a green P-Plate driver.

The 19-year-old Bega man was stopped for a random breath test at 1.15pm on Friday, August 22 in Newtown Road, Bega.

On inspection of the engine it was found to be a five litre fuel injected V8, a class of vehicle green P plate drivers are prohibited from driving.

Two youths have been cautioned in the presence of their parents by police for shoplifting.

The brothers, aged 11 and nine, were detained after they were observed stealing three chocolate bars and five cans of deodorant from Go-Lo, Bega last Friday.

The store manager contacted the police who took the boys home to their parents.

The manger of the store has banned them from entering the premises.

A window of a display home in Bridle Place, Glen Mia, has been smashed.

The offence occurred sometime between 10am on August 15 and 4pm on August 21.

Damage is estimated at $100.
