AS expected, the murder-suicide of Gary Poxon and his three children has reached across the continent.
National media coverage has guaranteed it will be in the public consciousness for some time.
Part of that coverage saw a team from Channel Nine’s 60 Minutes in the region to film a story on the tragedy.
Presenter Liz Hayes was accompanied by a producer and three cameramen, and conducted interviews with several members of the family and other residents of Pericoe.
Ms Hayes said it was always difficult doing stories such as this one.
“We look at both the personal story and the issues and see if anything could have been done to prevent it,” she said.
“Or to prevent something like it from happening again.”
Ms Hayes said it was “a very powerful story” and one that “unfortunately, we see quite a bit these days”.
“It’s a very difficult situation for us to address,” she said.
“And we are very sensitive to the family and issues like this.”
Ms Hayes said she liked to think that something positive would come from the story.
“Hopefully someone, somewhere will see it and it might be enough for them to change their circumstances,” she said.
The program will air on Channel Nine at 7.30pm this Sunday.
